Polygon Cruncher 10.2 release is now available including a new version dedicated to Maya users. This release adds 3ds Max 2014 plugins, an Auto Calculate feature (introduced from release 10.1) and many 3D I/O improvements useful when optimizing various 3D formats. Polygon Cruncher 10.2 is also available for Lightwave users.

3ds Max 2014 plugins

Polygon Cruncher is now available for 3ds Max 2014. It is still available for 3ds Max 9.0 to 3ds Max 2013 (32 bit and 64 bit version).

Polygon Cruncher for 3ds Max includes 3 different modules:

  • A modifier plugin which allows real time optimization in the 3ds Max viewers
  • An utility plugin that includes a built in OpenGL view and gives a precise control on the way optimization is performed.
    The utility plugin includes batch process module for your max files and generates different LODs for your 3D assets.
    It is also a way to import files from various 3D file format into 3ds Max
  • A stand alone application for optimizing your 3D assets that come from various file formats (sketchup, wavefront, stl, lightwave...). This module also includes batch processing.

Polygon Cruncher for Maya

Polygon Cruncher now exists for Autodesk Maya. The plugin is available for the latest Maya 2014 version but also for Maya 2008 to Maya 2013 (32 bit and 64 bit version)

Polygon Cruncher for Maya includes 3 different modules:

  • A mll plugin which allows real time optimization in the maya viewers.
    Select one or more polygonal nodes then type PolyCrunch in the mel script editor.
    A polygon Cruncher node is added and connected to the selected meshes and become part of the Maya 3D flow.
  • A batch process module for generating different LODs from your Maya 3D assets.
  • A stand alone application for optimizing your 3D assets that come from various file formats (sketchup, wavefront, stl, lightwave...). This module also includes batch processing.

Auto calculate mode and I/O improvements

Polygon Cruncher includes an Auto Calculate mode which simplifies comparison of different optimization settings at a given ratio. When you change the optimization setting, the selected ratio is automatically recomputed accordingly with this new setting.

Polygon Cruncher 10.2 also introduces many I/O improvements and support for new formats. This is particularly useful when using the stand alone version which is included with your license. The new supported formats are Sketchup (read/write), VRML97 and improvements concern wavefront, 3ds, collada, dxf, ply, vrml 1, truespace...
