INTRODUCING THE NPR KIT FOR MODO
The new NPR Kit lets you easily create a range of expressive and hand drawn looks when rendering in modo. Non-photorealistic rendering or ‘NPR’ refers to stylized or expressive 3D rendering that suggests traditional illustration. It is useful in such diverse applications as technical illustration, where edges and important features are emphasized at the expense of detailed visual accuracy, as well as cartoons where simple colors and strong lines are used to convey emotion. To learn more about the NPR Kit for modo please go here.

LUXOLOGY AT SIGGRAPH 2012
We are back from SIGGRAPH 2012 in Los Angeles where we enjoyed meeting so many new people in addition to long-time friends from the modo community. We extend a big thanks to the many modo users who showed off their productions in our booth. If you were not able to attend SIGGRAPH in person, you can get a good idea of what went on by visiting our updated Siggraph mini-site, and listening to the modcast that was recorded live at the Los Angeles modo user group meeting.

modo modeling master Roger Borelli previews some some of the modeling work he did on DreamWorks Dragons: Riders of Berk TV series. Shown are three characters that originally came from the movie How To Train Your Dragon. The TV series premiere will air on September 4th on the Cartoon Network. Nice work Roger!

Just when you thought the London Olympics were history, here comes this Olympics-inspired animation from Gelmi with a little help from recoil dynamics in modo. See the glass man go in this Luxology Forum thread.

Brad Peebler and David Tracy shout out!
This is just too much fun to not mention. Jason Ryan from ianimate.net used Maya and modo to create an animation based upon some banter from a modcast segment. I bet you can’t watch it just once! See the posting by Larry Vasquez in this Luxology Forum thread.
