Orca3D is a suite of tools, written as a plug-in for Rhinoceros¢ç, providing powerful naval architectural design and analysis capabilities that are easy to learn and run in a powerful 3D CAD environment.
Educational licenses are full working licenses of the software. Proof
of eligibility is required to qualify for Educational prices, as follows: A
copy of student ID, or a copy of current course schedule, or a letter from
a professor on school letterhead. Your course of study must be naval
architecture or a related field. After you have made your purchase, please
send your proof of eligibility to us as quickly as possible; once it has
been verified, we will send a License Code to you. Your annual license may
be renewed at Educational pricing if you are still a student at the time,
or Commercial pricing if you are no longer a student.

Hull Design & Fairing The design of a vessel in Orca3D begins with the hull model. Hull design is a unique combination of artistic expression and engineering analysis, combining to form a creative process to meet the aesthetic and performance requirements of the vessel.
Basic Hydrostatics & Stability The process of hull design is more than simply aesthetics; the hull must meet various other requirements, including overall dimensions, displacement, center of buoyancy, and stability. Therefore, the process of hull design and the analysis of hydrostatics and stability must be closely linked.
Parametric Speed & Power ¡°How fast will it go?¡± The Orca3D Parametric Speed/Power Analysis module has two different prediction methods: the Savitsky method to predict the speed/power curve for chine hulls, and the Holtrop method to predict the speed/power for displacement hulls.
Orca3D Marine CFD Orca3D Marine CFD is the combination of the Orca3D marine design plug-in for Rhino and the Simerics-MP (Multi-Purpose) CFD software, to provide a fast, accurate, and easy-to-use CFD solution for the naval architect.
Weight & Cost The success of any design hinges on its weight and center of gravity (CG). These parameters are fundamental to stability, speed, payload capacity, seakeeping performance, etc. Weight and CG tracking therefore must be a fundamental part of any design process.
Advanced Stability In-depth Stability with tanks, fluid loads, free surface, and intact and damage stability
Requirements
Orca3D is a plug-in for Rhino. You must have Rhino installed prior to installing Orca3D.
Rhino¢â (by McNeel) Installation:
For Orca3D Version 3, you need Rhino 7 or 8 (latest Service Release)
For Orca3D Version 2, you need Rhino 6 or 7 (latest Service Release)
Orca3D Versions 3 and 2 will not run with Rhino 4 or Rhino 5 (please contact us if you use Rhino 4 or 5)
Hardware:
See Rhino hardware requirements at http://www.rhino3d.com/system_requirements/
